Data Restore

Here’s How to Restore Your Telegram Data Across Different Devices 🔄

Tips for Ensuring Data Safety

  • Enable Two-Step Verification: This adds an extra layer of security to your account.

  • Regularly Export Important Data: Use the export feature to keep a local backup of important chats and media.

Restore On a New Device

Setting Up For Comfortable Usage 🛠️

Download Telegram

Mobile: Install Telegram from the Google Play Store (Android) or the App Store (iOS).

Desktop: Download and install Telegram Desktop from the Telegram website.

Open the app and log in using your phone number. You will receive a login code via SMS or a Telegram message on your existing devices.

Sync Your Data

Once logged in, your chats, media, and contacts will automatically sync to your new device from Telegram's cloud servers.

On an Existing Device

If You’ve Reinstalled Telegram or Are Using a New Installation on the Same Device, Your Data Should Sync Automatically Once You Log In ✨

Open Telegram and log in using your phone number. You may need to verify your identity using a code sent to you via SMS or from another device.

Sync Data

Your messages, contacts, and media will sync automatically from the cloud. If you’re missing any data, ensure you’re logged into the correct account.

Restoring Exported Data (Desktop Only)

If You Used the Export Feature on Telegram Desktop to Save Your Data 🖥️

Open Telegram Desktop

Install and open Telegram Desktop on your computer.

Import Data

Unfortunately, Telegram doesn’t have a built-in feature to import exported data directly back into the app. The exported data is mainly for viewing and backup purposes.

Recovering Telegram Account

If You’ve Lost Access to Your Telegram Account, Follow These Steps to Regain it 🔒

Forgot Phone Number or Changed Number

Registered Phone Number: You need to use the phone number you registered with to access your account.

Number Change: If you no longer have access to the registered number, it’s important to update your phone number within the app before losing access.

Lost Access to Your Phone (SIM)

SIM Replacement: If you've lost or damaged your SIM card, request a SIM card replacement from your mobile provider to regain access to your phone number.

Two-Step Verification: If you had set up two-step verification, you’ll need both your password and the verification code sent to your number to log back into your account.

Restoring Media

Recover Your Precious Memories Effortlessly 📸

Photos, Videos, Files

Saved Files: If you’ve manually saved media to your device’s gallery or file storage, you can access them directly from your device.

Telegram Cloud: All media in your chats will automatically reload once you log back in, as Telegram stores everything in the cloud.
