# NFT Numbers

## From Art to Utility

**The Practical Side of NFTs** 💡

**NFTs**, or **non-fungible tokens**, are unique digital assets that cannot be replaced or replicated. You might know **NFTs** as digital art or unique items that can be traded on **NFT** marketplaces. While **NFTs** are great for art, their potential goes far beyond just being creative items on the blockchain.

This article highlights how **NFTs** are being used in the [**TON Blockchain**](/knowledge-base/glossary.md#ton) through **Telegram** anonymous numbers, showing how users can create accounts without relying on a SIM card by purchasing an **NFT-backed number**.

## How Do NFTs Work with Telegram?

**Telegram Accounts as NFTs** 🔥

Recently, the Telegram team launched the [**Fragment Marketplace**](https://fragment.com/), where users can buy and sell **Telegram usernames** or **Anonymous Numbers** as **NFTs based** on the [**TON Blockchain**](/knowledge-base/glossary.md#ton)**.**

When someone purchases an **NFT number**, they can use it for a **no-SIM sign-up** on **Telegram**, ensuring their privacy is additionally protected by the **TON**. These **NFT** phone numbers are unique, their ownership can be only transferred or sold. The entire history of each **NFT** number is publicly available and easy to verify on the [**TON blockchain**](/knowledge-base/glossary.md#ton). As a result, unlike traditional numbers, they cannot be copied or stolen.
